主讲人简介

Kendall N. Houk教授是理论与计算有机化学领域的著名科学家，是美国国家科学院院士、美国艺术与科学院院士和中国科学院外籍院士。他的研究领域主要集中于用计算化学来解决有机化学和生物化学方面的各种难题：比如人工酶的设计、金属/有机分子/生物酶催化剂的反应机理的阐明、周环反应立体选择性的预测等。

讲座简介

My research on pericyclases, initiated by Woodward and Hoffmann in 1965, focuses on understanding periselectivity — a term I coined in the 1970s — for reactions of highly unsaturated substrates. Using the distortion-interaction model and examining ambimodal transition states, we can now predict product ratios with improved accuracy. Recent advancements, particularly by the Yi Tang group at UCLA, reveal Nature's use of pericyclic reactions in biosynthesis, involving mechanisms like Diels-Alder and electrocyclic reactions. I will present the latest developments by the Houk group in this evolving field.
